#introduction
Howzit (that is South African for Hi),
My name is Glenn and I am a data scientist/remote sensing scientist/machine learning engineer/ecologist based in Cape Town.
I try to build tools and models to improve our ability to monitor ecosystems from space.
The rest of the time I am either in the mountains running, climbing and trying to id plants; or in the ocean surfing and diving.
In reality, I am actually just changing nappies in my free time
@glennm Hi! Nice running into you! We just started working on a tool that we hope will be of value to the remote sensing community. Just today, we were wondering what deep learning models would be helpful from the ecology/climate change point of view that we could include into our model base https://github.com/PUTvision/qgis-plugin-deepness
@mkr very cool project. I think there is a big market of GIS people who want to use ML but don't know pytorch/tf. In general time series classifiers, unets and object detection (YOLO) are popular in remote sensing Check out torchgeo.readthedocs.io or https://mlhub.earth/models for ideas and pretrained models
