Anyone considering how to break the #StackOverflow #monopoly already? Any #federated alternative work in progress?
@Codeberg There's https://topanswers.xyz/ as alternative, but I don't know of any #federated alternative yet.
Maybe @samcarter knows if that's something that have been discussed?
My search-fu is failing me to find earlier discussions about this, but just from memory: this question has popped up every now and then at @codidact and TopAnswers, but they were very vague proposals.
I think if there were convincing proposals and users willing to work on this, both sites would be open to the idea.
@samcarter @kir0ul @Codeberg Codidact isn't federated (yet) because we don't have people to tackle it, but if someone can help, we're happy to discuss!
As for the #StackOverflow monopoly more generally: we have small communities trying to grow (nowhere near SO scale), and we're happy to help anyone who wants to set up our #FOSS code and import stuff from SO. (Import scripts are out of date, so that'd need to be tackled.) Our team can't take on 50M imports but if you can, we'd like to help.
