I don't usually get involved in the pro/anti nuclear discussion, but whenever people say "we need nuclear because renewables aren't reliable enough", do they usually take into account how much energy storage you can buy for the price of one nuclear power plant?
From some very back of the envelope guesswork, a bargain bin 1GW nuclear power plant costs the equivalent of 10GWh of battery storage or 100GWh of very ideal pumped hydro.
300 GWh is the Dutch daily electricity use so this level of storage should make a substantial contribution.
And I expect most of it is much faster too build than a power plant.
