I recently visited the #ElDeHaus in #Cologne, a former center of the #Gestapo and now the NS Documentation Centre of #Cologne. What I liked most is that the documentation center really focuses on the story of victims and the resistance to the #Nazi regime, giving them much more space than the perpetrators.

Two images that, in my opinion, perfectly portray the discrepancy between the supposed promises and the ultimately possible reality of totalitarian regimes:
1. The Nazis’ vision for the future of #Cologne in 1939
2. Cologne Neumarkt, April 19, 1945.
Today's #demonstration against #fascism in #Cologne Deutz … organizers registered 50,000 participants
Today I noticed, that #Cologne has just got a new #Stolperstein. The inscription reads:
Hier wohnte Max Mann JG. 1902
Im Widerstand/KPD verurteilt 26. 9.1935
Vorbereitung Hochverrat
6 Jahre Zuchthaus
1942 KZ Mauthausen
Ermordet 20.8.1942
(english translation see image caption)
If you’d like to read more about the Stolperstein project, I recently summarized some information about it on my blog:
