Finding my next rental in #Madison #WI is proving terrifying with 34 days to go until I have to be out of my current abode. I've lived in Madison since 2019 and thought I had a decent budget until I was sprung with a departing housemate and a need to relocate. After a month and a half of looking, I'm coming up dry for anything I can afford and especially coming up dry on replies to Craigslist ads (they don't respond or are scams) for places I can afford. Starting to panic quite a bit now.
The scariest part is that I'm in a privileged situation thanks to a VA disability check which adds half-again to my take-home pay - and yet I'm not seeing any rentals even if I stretch out to 1/2 my total income budgeted to rent - and I've got more than half again the normal budget for someone working full time at a job that I'd thought payed pretty well over the last four years - until I was smacked with the fact that I may not have a place to live soon.
