Any chooms got some 3D printing advice?

I have a bedslinger (Sovol SV06 ACE, PLA), and any lower profile prints have been perfect, but I wanted to try this cool paper-holding rat to print for my son, and I have tried 3 times and it comes loose from the bed near the top of the print. Of course then it just air prints.

Things I have tried:

  • Cleaning the bed with 96% ethanol (I do that before each print anyway)
  • Using hairspray on the bed
  • Increasing the first layer thickness
  • Adjusting the z-offset for more squish
  • Adding a skirt of 8mm
  • Checking all the temp settings: bed 60C, first layer 210C print temp 200C (as specified on the PLA spool)

I'm using orcaslicer, I think the one thing that's left to try is reducing the print speed, but I hoped that wouldn't be needed...Maybe there is a way to slow the print as you get further up? Or maybe because I'm such a n00b I missed something obvbious

Hello #fediverse! I need suggestions for a new laptop. I am most comfortable with windows PCs & have been anti Apple (mostly bc they have less storage for more $) but I do not like windows 10 or 11. I do not want copilot or any AI horseshit or spyware disguised as a service. I know that people are going to suggest Linux but I had a Linux laptop that died & I don't have time to maintain it. I will probably purchase from Costco. Is a MacBook worth the money? #adviceWanted #adviceNeeded

People of the #Fediverse do your thing, again! I need tips for a browser beyond the usual. I'm currently using #Firefox (my browser of choice for a very long time), but tabs recently keep crashing all the time - an it's particularly annoying when (for work) I am doing something on a platform that doesn't save things automatically (notoriously my uni stuff).

So, write me your suggestions for a private, stable, and reliable browser!

🌟 **3D Printer Recommendations Needed!** 🌟

I’m diving into the world of additive manufacturing and need your help!

I’m looking for an inexpensive 3D printer (under $500) that’s perfect for a free and open-source software (FOSS) enthusiast like me.

🔍 Here are my criteria:
- **Budget:** Under $500
- **User-Friendly:** Easier to start with than a Voron 2.4
- **Hacking-Friendly:** I’d love the ability to tinker and customize!

What 3D printer would you recommend for someone just starting out? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments! Your insights will help me make the right choice. Thank you! 😊

My water bottle is metal (it says it’s a Corksicle on the side). Trouble is, I get a metallic ?taste ?sensation on my tongue when I drink from it. This is irksome.

If I want to replace it with one that is vaguely sustainably produced and doesn’t irk my tongue, anybody know what’s good?

Has to be properly leakproof as it goes in my gig bag with music etc. Ideally insulated but it’s not a deal breaker. UK availability; online good but never through Amazon.

For what seems like ages .... (about 6-8 weeks), I did not want to touch anything on my yunohost mastodon app, because the webinterface was broken, but the barebones settings were accessible. And I could still toot via my mobile app.

Finally, the interface is up and running again, but I fear a mastodon-move will be in the works, as I find the yunohost masto version very dodgy and not well maintained.

Any tips on how I can install my own server _and_ keep all data of this version in the new one?

I've had this ongoing problem with my phone for quite a while (iOS 17.1.2, though it happened with iOS 16 as well), and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix it.

My phone corrects or changes a word two or three words back. For example, if I type "drop off prescription," it's correct after I type "drop off," but once I've typed "prescription," it changes the entire phrase to "stop of prescription." Or if I type "thank [name]" (as a reminder to myself), it's correct after I type "thank", but once I've typed the name it changes it to "thanks [name]".

I've tried turning off a bunch of settings related to autocorrection, but I haven't found the right setting yet.
