RaymondPierreL3<p>Zoe Daniel in the Guardian writes:<br>“…we can hardly expect reasoned community conversations to bridge divides when our leaders can’t even have those constructive discussions. Until they can, there’ll be a trust gap.”</p><p>While it is true that there is a ‘trust gap’, it is important to remember that elected officials reflect the dominant values and morals of their electorate. It’s the old: ‘you get the govt you deserve’ seen in the proper perspective. To wish an elected govt to be a role-model for the society it represents surely is to put the cart before the horse. </p><p>The thinking person’s view ought to be to recognise ourselves in the Parliamentary stouches and ask why are we behaving thusly and what can be done to correct our collective behaviour, thoughts, and actions to achieve a more harmonious society.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/AusPol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AusPol</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/ContemporaryPolitics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ContemporaryPolitics</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/CollectiveBehaviour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CollectiveBehaviour</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Politics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Politics</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Society" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Society</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Opinion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Opinion</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Activism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Activism</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Morals" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Morals</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Ethics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ethics</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Rhetoric" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rhetoric</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Parliament" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Parliament</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Democracy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Democracy</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Humanism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Humanism</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/ZoeDaniel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ZoeDaniel</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/TheGuardian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TheGuardian</span></a> </p><p>read more:</p><p><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/sep/07/division-exposed-by-march-for-australia-test-for-politicians-they-failed-it-put-nation-last-ntwnfb" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">theguardian.com/commentisfree/</span><span class="invisible">2025/sep/07/division-exposed-by-march-for-australia-test-for-politicians-they-failed-it-put-nation-last-ntwnfb</span></a></p>
