New blog post: Digital Humanities Outreach and Media Fragmentation
How do we reach an audience when the audience has scattered?

My PKM Webnotes now comes with default content. This means that you could deploy a version of it for your own use, eg in a class where default notes contain an assignment, instructions, guidance. Code results (including plots) can be copied to clipboard via the ui. Each note has its own state so variables don't bleed from one note into another. External data loading enabled. https://pkm-webnotes.netlify.app/ and repo: https://github.com/shawngraham/pkmwebnotes #dh #pkm #archaeology #histodons
behold! https://pkm-webnotes.netlify.app ... although I think I should like to get the output to render in the note itself when executing code. #dh #pkm
Well, it's summer, so we extended the deadline (**Aug. 13th, 2025**): if you are thinking about a cool #DH project for a #PhD thesis, apply at https://jobs.uni-graz.at/de/jobs/3897bb8f-e572-9c0c-00a5-685a89640e86 #jobs #digitalhumanities #unigraz #graz #austria

For those of us in the humanities, the last 20 years have often felt like a siege. But maybe we’ve reached a nadir. Here are a few links that may provide a needed boost for the new semester.

#Preprints and #OpenAccess are of course a big thing in #DigitalHumanities! A lot of us, especially in Europe, use #Zenodo for papers / preprints, datasets, presentations, and more.
#DH is of course not representative of the #Humanities. We're a small (but loud and dynamic!), interdisciplinary field at the intersection of the humanities and computer science, simply put.
Methods evolve quickly in DH, so that may be a factor. Accessibility and openness are highly valued as well.

Even has block embeds where you create an anchor ^ and identifier, ^my-first-block inside Source Note ) and then reference the note: ![[Source Note#^my-first-block]]
The idea is to introduce personal knowledge management ideas but not require downloading anything or getting sucked into plugins/customization until _after_ the basic ideas become familiar. Tiny glitch - getting names of notes in the sidebar to update, so ctrl+r baby

Fun (and important) feature of #Emojipedia is it's historical design archive, documenting what emoji used to look like on previous generations of devices. Super important for interpretation of historical SMS and SMS-like communications with #emoji. E.g. below for the "robot".
