Довго не могла второпати, що там за напис на стіні навпроти мого вікна в airbnb. Здалеку виглядало якось дуже графічно, а коли наблизила - ледве не розлила каву.
Українською! На весь будинок! І не просто щось, а стара реклама безкоштовної землі в Канаді для переселенців.

Одна справа чути що є захід України, а є західна Україна в Вінніпезі, а інша справа бачити :)

"As Adobe explores ways to evolve mobile photography, and in order to address some of these gaps, we have developed a camera app we call Project Indigo. Today, we are releasing this for iPhone as a free mobile app from Adobe Labs, available in the Apple App Store - to share our progress and get feedback from the community. The app offers full manual controls, a more natural ("SLR-like") look, and the highest image quality that computational photography can provide - in both JPEG and raw formats. It also introduces some new photographic experiences not available in other camera apps.

Let's break this down, starting with computational photography. While this phrase has come to mean many things, in the context of mobile cameras it typically includes two strategies: (1) under-expose slightly to reduce the clipping of highlights, and (2) capture multiple images in rapid succession when you press the shutter button. These images are aligned and combined to reduce noise in the shadows. The laws of physics say that imaging noise (the digital version of film grain) goes down as the square root of the number of images that are added together, so if the camera combines 9 images, noise is reduced by a factor of 3.

What's different about computational photography using Indigo? First, we under-expose more strongly than most cameras. Second, we capture, align, and combine more frames when producing each photo - up to 32 frames as in the example above. This means that our photos have fewer blown-out highlights and less noise in the shadows. Taking a photo with our app may require slightly more patience after pressing the shutter button than you're used to, but after a few seconds you'll be rewarded with a better picture.

As a side benefit of these two strategies, we need less spatial denoising (i.e. smoothing) than most camera apps. This means we preserve more natural textures."

I’d been seeing these Canada geese with their babies on my drive to work and the other day I was finally able to stop and photograph them. They were adorable 🥹 From what I can tell, they were probably between 2 and 3 weeks old at the time of the photos.

The rocks at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse for #TextureTuesday. I finally had the chance to visit Pemaquid Point in Bristol, Maine the other day when I happened to be in the area. I was really blown away by the fascinating and beautiful geology of the area around the lighthouse.

According to the Maine Geological Survey, the rocks here are mostly metamorphic with some igneous. The gray layered rock is called gneiss and it was originally sediments at the bottom of the ocean that were metamorphosed 360-415 million years ago into what you see here. The light gray/whitish igneous rock is called pegmatite.

Gardening season (digital)

🇺🇦UA: Вчора подруга привезла хризантеми, і зранку я, як справжня жінка середнього віку в кризі, схопила лопату й пішла копати грядку. Англійською хризантеми - mums. І тут я згадала, як колись їхала через глибинку Міннесоти й на кожному повороті були рукописні таблички: mums for sale.

До того, як я дізналася, що йдеться про квіти, в голові виник зовсім інший жанр. Стоїть такий будиночок серед кукурудзи, а перед ним табличка: “Мами на продаж”. Зразу й не здогадаєшся це фермерський маркет чи вступна сцена з фільму категорії 18+.

Поки я доїхала до пункту призначення, я вже встигла придумати кілька сюжетів і навіть дати назви серіям. А потім мені сказали, що це про хризантеми, і я трохи розчарувалась. Але не повністю.

Тож тепер, коли саджаю mums, я все ще посміхаюсь. Бо ніщо так не пахне осінню, як сезонні знижки на мам.
