M1HAX Mountain Radio<p>Hiked Fan Brycheiniog GW/SW-003 and Craig y Llyn GW/SW-010 today, cold and icy but not very windy. Chris (W1YTQ)<p>Elecraft asked if I could rewrite this article to be included in their monthly newsletter. Of course I was happy to do so, I love my KH1.</p><p>The picture attached is a screenshot of my article in their email newsletter.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.roundpond.net/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.roundpond.net/tags/kh1" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kh1</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.roundpond.net/tags/morsecode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>morsecode</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.roundpond.net/tags/elecraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>elecraft</span></a></p>
Tim N7KOM<p>New toy arrived in the mail. Used it out of the box to chase N1CLC on a <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/SOTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SOTA</span></a> activation. An elegant tool for a more civilized age. <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/Elecraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Elecraft</span></a></p>
Josef 'Jeff' Sipek<p>Does anyone have a good description how to use <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/wsjtx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wsjtx</span></a> with an <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/Elecraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Elecraft</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/KX2" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>KX2</span></a> ? Everything I found seems to generate far too much garbage outside of the 4kHz pass band and if I reduce the various gains until the garbage disappears, my signal ends up super weak. <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ft8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ft8</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/ft4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ft4</span></a> </p><p>For example, with a 0.1W, mic gain 15, wsjtx gain -25dB, laptop volume 30%, I get -4.4dBm output with some of this garbage, yet there are zero bars of ALC. (The ~14.1MHz is LO leaking out.)</p>
M1HAX Mountain Radio<p>Hiked up 🗻 Cnoc an Daimh Mor (GM/NS-142) in northern Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to operate its first “Summits On The Air” radio station. Was one of the last unactivated summits in the UK. 17.5km of bog and peat maze. 29 hours driving to get there and back. 1 point. 💪🏻😃 <br><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/sota" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sota</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/summitsontheair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>summitsontheair</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hf" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hf</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/elecraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>elecraft</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/portableops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>portableops</span></a></p>
