#Jupiter, Europe’s most powerful #supercomputer, takes maiden flight - but misses exascale orbit
Full system expected to break the exaFLOP barrier - perhaps in time for #SC25 this fall?
In its first appearance on the biannual ranking, the Jülich Supercomputing Center's (JSC) flagship system managed 793 petaFLOPS of double precision (FP64) grunt in the time-honored High-Performance Linpack (#HPL) benchmark.

Today, Ursula Von Der Leyen made the case for why #Europe 🇪🇺 is the place to be for researchers, speaking at the launch of the new "Choose Europe for Science" initiative, something dear to #EmmanuelMacron.

Let's see what it is about, and enjoy this opportunity to deep dive within the other EU programs for Science that she highlighted, such as #HorizonEurope, the #ERC, the #EIC, the #MSCA or #EuroHPC.

#Europe Takes Another Whack At Homegrown Compute Engines
Digital Autonomy with #RISCV in Europe, Project "#DARE" is very much focused on #HPC even if it does have potential #AI use cases. Funded by #EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, the same pan-European organization that has funded pre-exascale and #exascale systems. A total of 38 different organizations, have joined up to work collaboratively on three different RISC-V compute engines.

Project leader Michael Granitzer presented the OpenWebSearch.eu project in the "AI Factories and Cloud Integration: Unlocking Scalable and Flexible AI Workflows" track.

📍This week, the consortium members are meeting up in Passau to discuss the next project steps for the coming months. Stay tuned...

🦾 Europe bets on RISC-V for homegrown supercomputing platform
—The Register

「 A 38-strong group of tech players have founded a project with the snappy name Digital Autonomy with RISC-V in Europe, aka DARE, that aims to develop processor units to power the continent’s supercomputers and other high-performance machines 」

Two European AI Factories will be hosted in Germany. 🎉

The EuroHPC Joint Undertaking has recently selected the JAIF consortium led by @fzj to host one of Europe’s newest AI Factories. Thus, all three GCS Centers play leading roles in EuroHPC Joint Undertaking’s AI Factories. The LRZ is part of the HammerHAI consortium, coordinated by HLRS, which was announced in December 2024.
