Unsurprisingly the Financial Ombudsman Service, often the last recourse for those the financial service sector has hoodwinked, abused or defrauded is to be curbed, and stopped from being a 'quasi-regulator; in line with lobbying from banks & others who want to see it brought to heel, by undermining its independence from the Financial Conduct Authority.

Its just one more move to skew regulation of financial services away from the consumer interest...

Nationwide, which is currently running an advert campaign making the claim its not like those other banks, is getting itself into a bit of hot water with a proposal for a bonus plan that would see the CEO possibly gain a £7mn payment.

I'm not sure whether I'm disappointed at the (seeming) hypocrisy, or just amused that the building society has been unable resist the call of the financial sectors' narrative of executive enrichment....
