There has been an interesting emergence of design research exploring the role computers can play in religious/spiritual experiences. One such group is the The SPIRITED Collective, which recently issued a second issue of a zine that includes some explorations my colleague Noura Howell and I have been doing on machine-aided autobiographic poetry inspired by the style of the great Sufi mystic and poet Rūmī and his Masnavi. The VOXI is a community-driven, validated instrument for measuring user impressions of computer voice. You can already check it out in the CUI '25 paper "Hearing Ambiguity" by Marti De Cet, me, Mohammad Obaid, and Ilaria Torre.

@marioguzman It’s not about nationality; it's about prioritizing (aesthetic) form over functionality.

Let’s not forget that Alan Dye’s background is in branding and package design. That’s exactly the skills profile you want for, well, luxury consumer(!) goods — such as expensive watches.

For productivity-oriented #UX, though, you want #HCI-greats such as Alan Kay and Larry Tesler, both of which happened to work at Apple in the past.

P.S.: Part of the problem is to conflate UX and UI. 😈😉
