"Michigan orders emergency drawdown of Hall Lake Dam at Yankee Springs Recreation Area
The Michigan DNR plans to reduce the water levels by 6 inches per week to protect fish and wildlife population...
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced Friday it's addressing serious concerns over the safety of Hall Lake Dam with a gradual drawdown of water levels starting this summer.
Hall Lake was once a natural lake spanning about 8 acres with a maximum depth of 6 feet. The development of Gun Lake Road raised the water levels. And in the 1960s, a water-control structure was added that raised the lake's water level by another 6 feet. ..."

We've all seen it, a puddle evaporates and leaves behind rings of sediment. But, why? This puddle evaporated over the course of an afternoon at, what I would assume was a fairly constant rate. Yet it's sediment was deposited more heavily at some times and less heavily at others. I can't figure out what could possibly change the rate of evaporation or sedimentation in such a periodic fashion. I guess I've got some research to do. #hydrology #geology

"In the densely developed Seacoast Shores peninsula in East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USGS scientists found that a significant amount of nitrogen was being transported by groundwater, but the concentrations of nitrogen significantly varied as it interacted with both fresh and saltwater. The mixing of freshwater and seawater underground in coastal aquifers is called a subterranean estuary."

“The Canadian Hydrospatial Network (CHN) is a map-based dataset that includes Canada's lakes, rivers, watersheds and other water features and their connections to each other.
It's applications include:
🗺️ serving as a foundation for advanced hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, including for flooding and drought
🗺️ supporting water and watershed management
🗺️ providing essential base data for cartography…”
You can now explore six new regions …”

#WIP - derivative product. A 3D aerial oblique view of the entire wild Snowy River.

I've been struggling with @qgis 3D renders on some old projects lately (I guess fair, trying to view 900 sq. km of 2m resolution terrain and a lot of complex vector overlays :D ) - however this one seemed to work out.

If I had $$ I'd love to fund 3D callouts in QGIS, that would be so awesome! Until then, putting them in with @inkscape works just fine.
