Mozilla needs to shape up.
Browsers are huge projects, maybe a Linux-like development model would be better for Firefox than the current Mozilla-controlled one.
#GoToWebinar, e siamo nel 2025, NON accetta #mozilla #Firefox come browser per seguire i #webinar con la sua incredibile piattaforma
Ai confini della realtà
PS My apologies @nicktaylor, now that I've read more into Ladybird I see they're doing both. Creating a new browser *and* a new not-for-profit for it. I'll be intrigued to see how they plan to structure the org to avoid Mozilla's fate.
Also why they decided to start from scratch, instead of forking at least some components of a working libre browser. Even if only to swap them out over time, as Chromium did.
@gabrielesvelto @Mozilla @mozilla_support @fuchsiii yes, and #Mozilla deciding to fragment #FirefoxOS more by basically letting #MNO / #MVNO run the #AppStores instead of having a reference one made it worse than the chinese domestic market cuz at leadt there one can just get an agent to enshure one's apps are in all #Android AppStores there...
#Firefox is fine. The people running it are not
#Mozilla's management is a bug, not a feature
Mozilla’s leadership is directionless and flailing because it’s never had to do, or be, anything else. It’s never needed to know how to make a profit, because it never had to make a profit. It’s no wonder it has no real direction or vision or clue: it never needed them. It’s role-playing being a business.

@gabrielesvelto I still remember #FirefoxOS and I'm still mad at @Mozilla / @mozilla_support / #Mozilla for self-sabotaging because neither me nor @fuchsiii nor anyone else I knew who did #WebDev / #AppDev / #MobileDev could even buy a device.
I mean it's cool that one could just use #Firefox as #Emulator but no #mobile #OperatingSystem will have any chance of market attraction if one cannot buy the bloody thing!
(Probably-not-actually-)unpopular opinion:
The team that manages #Thunderbird should take over all of Mozilla, and the entire C-suite at #Mozilla should stuff themselves into a dragon capsule and move to the moon, or something.

I too am willing to put money where my beliefs are honored. Please please please @Mozilla let us have a way of directly supporting the free and open software of choice directly!
I have been donating 5€ a month to the #Mozilla Foundation for the past few years as a substitute because there was no way to for me to actually pay for #Firefox. I truly believe that open source software should be paid for. This is the only way it can be sustainable for the volunteers and ultimately the users.
Curiously I think it was Mozilla who stopped my recurring donation from their side a few months ago, if I remeber.

Yes, this rant is totally confirmation-biasing my opinion on Firefox and Mozilla. I think you should still read it.

Important PSA about #Pocket
If you used Pocket to save interesting articles you found online, you may be aware that #Mozilla decided to shut down the app and discontinue support.
I vaguely remembered that date was July and had a mini-heart attack when I saw it was actually July 8.
Good news though: if you, like me, have hundreds of articles saved to Pocket, you have until October 8 to request an export of your data (I just did): https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/future-of-pocket
Next up: moving to @wallabag
