Self-indulgent rambling running PIFFLE
Absolutely boiling at Llanishen #parkrun this morning. We were volunteering and luckily I was in the shade giving out tokens and 158 well dones
Just a few seconds slower this week despite it being 10° warmer than last time. I’ll take that as a win. #parkrun
I GPs that get #parkrun: 'Become a parkrun practice today and improve the health and wellbeing of your patients through increased physical activity, skill development, friendships and socialising, mutual support and personal empowerment.' https://www.racgp.org.au/parkrunpractice
Completed my first #ParkRun today. It has taken a long time to pluck up the courage to do it, but it went well. Slow of course, but not as slow as I expected.
I did take the precaution of doing it a long way from home in case it was a complete disaster. Now feel I can take part near home where there are likely to be people I know. Phew.
@LoganFive @TheBreadmonkey Nice one. I'd say double win - a run and no pain.
I'm not a runner/jogger or particularly sociable but #ParkRun appears to be a good thing all round. If it motivates people in a positive way it must be a good thing.
As I'm here, I'll point out that I broke with my sea bobbing habit today and actually swam! Not far, but small strokes (no giggling at the back please). Bad shoulders for years provided the perfect excuse to procrastinate on starting proper swimming again, but Stroud jabs have reduced crunching and today felt the right time to start. Let's see how it goes and whether my jumbled head will remember to continue the activity!
Sorry for the derail.
New sub 14 minute women's record set for 5000m.
First finisher! Well done! Now can you grab a hi-viz and do some scanning?
@TheBreadmonkey OK, I didn't make the #ParkRun, but I did do a 5k on my own later in the day. I was quite slow but no pain from the plantar fasciitis so I think that's a win.
@TheBreadmonkey has #ParkRun while others have #CouchNap
