Sean Tilley<p>Huh, I like the way <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.wedistribute.org/tag/piefed" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Piefed</a> displays <a class="hashtag" href="https://social.wedistribute.org/tag/peertube" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#PeerTube</a> channels. Jared White (🏳️‍⚧️ ally)<p>August update:</p><p>I’d gotten waylaid a bit due to "life" (and had some initial challenges in testing federation…all good now from the looks of it), but at this point</p><p>I can safely say my <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/PieFed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PieFed</span></a> instance is very nearly ready to go public! 🥳</p><p>I'm convinced the public web forum of tomorrow is a <a href="https://indieweb.social/tags/Threadiverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Threadiverse</span></a> installation, and PieFed has risen to the top as the best project in this genre imo. Can't wait to go all-in on promoting it.</p><p>Sneak peak:</p>

wakest ⁂<p>Noticed that <a href="https://social.wake.st/tags/Piefed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Piefed</span></a> autolinks URLs without https and the linkification federates to Mastodon, are there other fediverse servers that do this? Seems like a huge quality of life improvement</p>
CpyJx 🍉<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@ivantodorov" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>ivantodorov</span></a></span> Give Piefed a try - it interoperates with Lemmy and Kbin/Mbin. The cool feature I like about Piefed is it will link messages in cross-posts so that even if you're in a small community, you'll get to see the bigger picture of what's being discussed. On lemmy you have to navigate to the crossposted links to see other comments, which if you don't, can make your experience feel walled-off. </p><p><a href="https://join.piefed.social/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">join.piefed.social/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PieFed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PieFed</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Threadiverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Threadiverse</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Lemmy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Lemmy</span></a></p>

Zef Hemel<p>Idea 7: technology. I really appreciate <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/PieFed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PieFed</span></a>’s deliberate choice to pick a tech stack and coding style that is low barrier to entry. Perhaps something “boring but stable” like Python or Node.js is the way to encourage contribution. For sure this needs to be web first, with the ability to build native apps if people feel inclined. The web is the only open platform that remains, and using modern <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/PWA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PWA</span></a> features like ability to add web sites to the home screen and support push notifications are now supported on practically all platforms.</p>
