Eugenia L<p>For me, the best music was made in the '80s (pop/rock), some alternative rock in the 1990s and early 2000s, and then the Pitchfork indie-era between 2003-2012 (folk, experim. electronic).</p><p>Since then, it has been one song here, one song there that I like. Maybe I'm difficult, or old. But given that most GenZ listen to older music too according to Spotify, I think I'm on the right side of things. We currently live in a cultural void.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/musik" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>musik</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/pitchfork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pitchfork</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/spotify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>spotify</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/streaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>streaming</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/1980s" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>1980s</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/indie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indie</span></a></p>
delProfundo<p>I love how quickly we moved from ‘trumps just saying he’ll do those things’ we all knew he would do as fast as possible to ‘oh he’s done WHAT’ </p><p>When this is all over I hope we drag all the journalists who excused or fluffed trump and musk to the galllows with them. <a href="https://aus.social/tags/uspol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>uspol</span></a></p><p>Where’s my <a href="https://aus.social/tags/pitchfork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pitchfork</span></a> emoji</p>

Donald Hobern<p>Last week, <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/Pitchfork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Pitchfork</span></a> gave <a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/PinkFloyd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PinkFloyd</span></a> Wish You Were Here a 10.0. As someone who mostly failed to appreciate punk and new wave in the late 70s because my tribe were still into progressive rock, I have to dissent from this.</p><p>I'd give 10.0 to The Wall and DSOTM (Pitchfork rated it lower at 9.3), but I've always found WYWH a mixed bag. The title track is a favourite, and I'm still happy to sit through the Shine On suites, but Have a Cigar and Welcome To The Machine are grim AOR nonsense. </p><p>Fight me.</p>

matdevdug<p>I'm sad that <a href="https://c.im/tags/pitchfork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pitchfork</span></a> is getting shut down. It has always been such a valuable resource to me of artists I should check out, even if I didn't always agree with the reviews. The site has done more to expand my appreciation for music than any algorithm on a streaming site and to kill it and roll it into GQ, the most boring entity on the market right now, is a shame. </p><p>It's already such a depressing time for music with streaming killing the studio band model that to lose the last great critical publication is a real sad state of affairs. </p><p><a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/music/2024/01/18/pitchfork-layoffs-gq-magazine/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">washingtonpost.com/entertainme</span><span class="invisible">nt/music/2024/01/18/pitchfork-layoffs-gq-magazine/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://c.im/tags/music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>music</span></a></p>
