Jürgen HubertI tried to do the <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/QuotePosts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#QuotePosts</a> thing, but so far I've only managed to do this with my own posts - everywhere else I get a "You are not authorized to quote post this message".This is one of the major reasons why I wanted to move to another instance earlier this year - my old instance hasn't updated their <a href="https://mementomori.social/tags/Mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Mastodon</a> version in ages.Presumably, a lot of the users where I get this error message are still on an older version of Mastodon - but I am also getting this message from accounts on Mastodon.social, which also uses the latest Nightly build. Perhaps quote posts are disabled by the accounts there by default, and need to be manually permitted by the users?EDIT: I checked, and quote posting seems to be enabled for a few other users on mementomori.social (i.e. my own instance), although it's not universal.What are your experiences with quote posts? LeaI think I'll limit quote-posting to my followers for now, but reading the docs on how it will all work is reassuring and tells me they've put a lot of thought and work into this. <a href="https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/quote-posts/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank">https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/quote-posts/</a>We will have a lot of control over which of our posts, if any, can be quoted, and will even be able to remove a quote that has already been done if we want. That should go a long way toward mitigating abuse of the feature.Previously I was against quote-posting if it was going to be implemented the way it's done on other social media. I appreciate Mastodon devs taking everyone's feedback into consideration and addressing most of the potential problems I was concerned about.
