Wine2021 Michael-David Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Freakshow Lodi, California 14.5% ABV $19.99 / 87 Served at 65º F / 18º C. A two hour decant is followed by a pour into Riedel Extreme Cabernet glasses, where the wine is a deep ruby. A lovely but simple bouquet of blackberry. Palate is dry with blackberry, leather, graphite. Some baking spice. Medium-plus intensity. Chalky medium tannins and medium acidity. Maybe some cedar and baking spice on the long finish. Did not have with food. Day 2: Had at room temperature of 72º F / 22º C. I’m getting some wet gravel on the palate which wasn’t there yesterday. More leather and baking spice. Balance might lean slightly toward the acidity but is overall good. I’d say the wine has improved during the extra twenty-four hours. I’d been inclined to tag it with an 86 but now it’s somewhere between 87 and 88. Suchots from Arlot held well for long journey to last bottle status,but it sure changed.At least from this bottle, it's lean, earthy and old-school, with dried strawberries, good lift to the mature fruit and plenty of grip on the finish.Not so fruity now, it revels more in its structure.
