The hike up Half Dome:
"... hikers who make the long trek to the cables might... feel pressured to go for the top... given how tough it can be to win a hiking permit. ...anyone thinking about going up... make an honest appraisal of your ability at that moment.

Some... look up... and opt out on the spot. Others press partway up... Those are not weak moves. Those are decisions a hiker can feel good about. Don’t put pressure on yourself or your... partners..."

Bridalveil Falls

Bridalveil falls is usually the first major waterfall that most visitors see as they enter Yosemite Valley. A very common image of this fall is taken from the Tunnel View parking lot up on highway 41. I have a number of images captured from Tunnel View as it's a very beautiful overlook.
This image was taken from across the Merced River during the spring time.

North Valley Panoramic

Yosemite National Park is filled with so many breathtaking vistas. I continuously walk around in awe of the beauty. Yosemite Valley seems to have one landmark right after another.
This image was captured from Glacier Point on the first day that the road was open for the spring. This area can receive up to and over 500 inches of snow per year.

Appropriation, in US park names:

"These are Indigenous-sounding names that are the name of an Indigenous person or people or not a traditional name, that is, settler colonizers using an Indigenous language."

An example of appropriation is #Yosemite Valley. ‘Yosemite’ comes from the Sierra Miwok word meaning ‘some of them are killers’, probably referring to the Paiute individuals, distrusted by the Sierra Miwok, living among the Ahwahneechee people in the valley"

El Capitan

El Capitan is one of the first landmarks that you will see as you drive into Yosemite Valley. This granite wall rises 3,000 feet off of the valley floor and is truly a sight to see. From the valley floor El Capitan is visible as you enter into the park and is prominently displayed to see from most points in the valley.
I love sitting below this monolith trying to spot climbers.

Golden Falls

This is a capture of a Dogwood tree in Yosemite Valley.
Captured during the late fall when an early storm dropped a few inches of snow in the valley.
With thick clouds overhead I was able to slow the shutter down and create some
vertical movement given this image an abstract quality.
The golden leaves of the dogwood look like golden falls with a white and green backdrop.

Snow Kissed Valley

This shot was taken as a winter storm was clearing the valley. The morning was cold and nasty but as the day moved on the sun started to break through.
On the left is El Capitan in it's proud glory. On the right you have Bridalveil Falls, The Three Brothers, and in the center back is Half Dome.

Yosemite Valley Panoramic

This is a panoramic image of Yosemite Valley. I created this by taking a series of images from the Tunnel View parking lot and stitched them together.
This was taken in early spring so Bridal Veil Falls was flowing at capacity in the lower part of the image. This image captures most of the major formations in Yosemite Valley.

“With this historic unfurling, climbers reclaim space in the heart — literally, the flag hangs on the recognizable ‘Heart Ledges’ on El Captain wall in Yosemite,” the news release says.
