ThreeOfUs<p>1/ We’re at 35 weeks 6 days today, the same point at which Cs youngest came. It’s been a stressful experience since the abnormal test results following the 12 week scan (high <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/nuchaltranslucency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nuchaltranslucency</span></a>, low <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/PAPP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PAPP</span></a>-A). After much deliberation, we had an <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/amniocentesis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>amniocentesis</span></a> and an agonising three week wait for the results which to our great relief were all clear. <br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/pregnancy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pregnancy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/kids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kids</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/parenting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>parenting</span></a></p>
ThreeOfUs<p>Great news, the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Amniocentesis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Amniocentesis</span></a> result came back as all clear. Doctors still concerned about the initial nuchal translucency reading, and the femur length is small - second percentile, so we have additional growth scans booked. 23 weeks tomorrow. <br><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/pregnancy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>pregnancy</span></a></p>
ThreeOfUs<p>Had appointment with foetal specialist yesterday and they casually told us our little one has a 1/7 likelihood of <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Downsyndrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Downsyndrome</span></a> or some other <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/chromosomal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>chromosomal</span></a> condition. We were offered an <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Amniocentesis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Amniocentesis</span></a> which will determine whether or not this is the case. C is really struggling and I’m going through a lot of emotions. Do we really want to know the result? How would it impact us and little one? We’re older parents - is it fair on the unborn child to have to fend for themselves in 40 years time?</p>
