April 30, 1901: On this date Frank Oscar Aho was born in Flood Wood, MN. He was a timber worker in the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). He fought in the Spanish Civil War in the Abraham Lincoln Brigade, serving at Lecera, Caspe, Gandesa, & the Ebro Offensive. He was wounded in action at Gandesa and again at Corbera. He returned to the US on 12/15/1938 aboard the Paris. He died 2/10/1940 and is buried in Ely, MN.
