Boston Globe even failed to mention the cyclist was on the SIDEWALK when he was murdered by the driver, who drove his Mercedes SUV directly onto the sidewalk. If there were events like MIT commencement, there'd be easily crowds of people on the sidewalk, and the driver would kill many pedestrians.

Is it too much to ask cars to stay on the road?

Edit: capital letters SIDEWALK

The Boston Globe · Driver in fatal Cambridge cyclist crash to face chargesBy Shannon Larson, Spencer Buell

Holidays are over...

Had a blast #bike riding the millevache area (FR).

I did a lot of "unplanned rides" (i.e. without a pre-determined route), as I really love this exploratory way to discover an area.

And for that, #comaps app (comaps.app) was really useful.

It's open-source, offline capable, and it's a very decent front-end over #openstreetmap data

So I was quiet after my 200 km ride because it stopped after falling at 161 km while changing direction on gravel on the road. It was impossible to stand up due to extreme pain in my left leg. I called 911, and the ambulance picked me up.

After the X-ray, I received confirmation of a broken femur. I had surgery yesterday. This morning, I was able to stand with the help of two people.

I will keep you posted.

New data:

Definitely a Class 2 e-bike. There'a right hand throttle, which works to engage speed.

Then there is pedal assist. The pedal assist (appears) to be either on or off, though there's a switch on the left handle... not sure if that's "high" or "low" or what, but there's some kind of difference in how the engine kicks in when "pedaling"... ie how many strokes before it turns the motor on?

No speed control with the pedal assist... not sure if that's the expected behavior or not, it just turns the motor on when the disc passes the sensor at a particular time and then turns it off.

Except for the "ignition off" (missing key), there is no other button to turn off the pedal assist. So, you're either "pedal assist + throttle mode" or "off". One would think you might wish to occasionally turn assist on/off by pressing a button/switch. (this of course I can fix if I want by adding a switch inline with the "key" circuit.

If it doesn’t, contact your municipality for further guidance.
