Doug Bostrom<p>"One concept that creates misunderstanding is “scientific consensus.” It’s time to stop using this shorthand and make clear what it really means."</p><p>It's confusing because encountered in as different applications we see, "consensus" is a hazardously ambigous term. A poor choice for conveying what we intend to say in this context.</p><p>English is rich. There's an exact term for communicating this type of agreement: "consilience."</p><p><a href="https://scicomm.xyz/tags/consilience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>consilience</span></a></p><p><a href="https://www.science.org/doi/full/10.1126/science.ady3211?af=R" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">science.org/doi/full/10.1126/s</span><span class="invisible">cience.ady3211?af=R</span></a></p><p><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consilience" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consilie</span><span class="invisible">nce</span></a></p>
