A group of psychotic Republican conspiracy theorists in the #Minnesota legislature have proposed a bill "designating #mRNA injections and products as weapons
of mass destruction
[and] prohibiting mRNA injections and products".

As this is Minnesota, and not, say, Texas, one assumes sanity will prevail and this crap will end up forgotten by history (other than as a cautionary tale about what happens when you let the #fascist fox into the #democratic hen house.

On Alien Day (4/26), Reddit users shared this meme from the movie “ALIEN”, reminding us what happens when quarantine is ignored. It’s not just sci-fi. The lesson applies to COVID-19 today. Don’t be an Ash. Prioritize safety, protect your community.

"Former government health officials fear the Trump administration is moving to slow-walk vaccine approvals, including by imposing new regulatory hurdles on drugmakers, such as changing the requirements for approval or seeking additional clinical trial data."

NBC News · FDA appears to be slow-walking vaccine approvalsBy Berkeley Lovelace Jr.

Data hoarder problem. During the #COVID lockdown and the news about BioNTech and their #mrna vaccine being developed, I thought that mrna could become an open thing. "Print" vaccines on standardised machines that are open hardware and open source (the basic patents on mrna are about to expire). Open "libraries" of mrna recipes. So I booked openmrna.com, .net and .org. They are about to expire. Should I keep them? (don't open them in your browser, don't)

I'm sick and tired of being unable to gig, or even go to gigs, due to the lack of COVID cautious events with sensible mitigations (masks, LFTs, ventilation etc)

I'm not the only one, and I know such events are starting to happen in the UK and elsewhere.

Thinking v srsly about putting sth together locally, but first I need to find out more.

So if you know of any COVID cautious music events anywhere in the world, please let me know.

(Pls boost?)

If you think you know all about #COVID: Efficacy of booster depends on whether it is administered in same or opposite arm as first jab. Probably also true for vaccination against the next pandemic. A closer look points to complex dynamics of immune response. nature.com/articles/d41586-025

I just want to point out that this is not a done deal, Trump’s approval numbers are crap, and the R congressional majority is paper-thin.

If you have an R Senator or MoC, now is the time to be calling their office every day with your HHS leadership concerns for vaccines, cancer research funding, and so on. If you hate talking to people on the phone, you can call after hours and leave a polite voicemail.

I swear to you there are some battles we can win.

I like the scientific process, and, within #SoftwareDevelopment, the #agile process.

They are self correcting.

I wish science had a more central role in governance, but with the amount of disinformation, and unrealistic expectations on the medical/science community re: #covid, I don't think society is capable of trusting experts who say "we don't know", or "it depends".
