Thought provoking article. Let's rally and vote for Mamdani in November!

"It is an odd story. (Mamdani didn’t even go to Columbia, for one.) You can imagine a different way of framing the story — a thumbsucker about identity with the headline “What does it mean to be a Ugandan Indian?” But the Times’ racist framing, which implies Mamdani was trying to game the admissions system, is one that plays better with the increasingly racist right-wing ecosystem."

In fields where I am an expert (and have the degrees or CV to prove it), I'd never insist that people trust what I say just because of that.

Take it more seriously? Listen more closely? Follow up more diligently? Of course.

But if I have nothing to back up my statements other than "I'm an expert and you're not," then honestly, I have nothing to back up my statements. You're right to be skeptical.

A quotation from Louis Brandeis

Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty. To courageous, self-reliant men, with confidence in the power of free and fearless reasoning applied through the processes of popular government, no danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present, unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is opportunity for full discussion. If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence.

Louis Brandeis (1856-1941) American lawyer, activist, Supreme Court Justice (1916-39)
Whitney v California, 274 US 357, 377 (1927) (concurring)

If #God Exists, Where is He? | #VictorStenger

From the #cosmologicalargument to fine-tuning, #theists offer many reasons to believe in God. But critics like Stenger say these arguments collapse under scrutiny. This video breaks down both sides and asks: are these classic proofs of God still relevant in a post-#scientificage?
