But then I greatly regretted my registration on the platform.</p><p>The problem's not just that it recommends these people on the top. The problem's also that it requires following at least 1. But it doesn't provide search feature in this window so I can easily find the one I want to follow myself. Comparing <a href="https://cr8r.gg/tags/DeltaChat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DeltaChat</span></a> and <a href="https://cr8r.gg/tags/Matrix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Matrix</span></a> together, if you want hassle free and consistent messenger for private <a href="https://cr8r.gg/tags/E2EE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>E2EE</span></a> chats, don't go for Matrix. DeltaChat is way better.</p><p>However, if you want something like a public forum, or a public chatroom, don't go for DeltaChat. Matrix is way better suited for that. And DeltaChat does not support public groups at all. Open Risk<p>An intriguing aspect of the centralization / <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/enshittification" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>enshittification</span></a> versus <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/decentralization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>decentralization</span></a> of the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/fediverse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fediverse</span></a> debate is that "real life" is naturally decentralized. </p><p>It takes real effort to centralize institutions and behavior when people are geographically dispersed. To corral them and keep them corralled. And it never happens 100%, people like their locality.</p><p>In contrast, even though digital infrastructure is decentral, it has come to pass that centralization is somehow easier and more natural.</p>
