W6KME<p>Some talk locally about what the persistent carrier signal is at 7.235 MHz that often (but not always) interferes with one of our local ARES nets. I'm convinced it's the North Korean station that transmits a few hours weekly, in Korean, Chinese and English. My gut feeling is that they transmit a bare carrier when there is no program, to hold the frequency.</p><p>Any other ideas? It's a huge signal; I suspect it's not in any way local to California.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/SWL" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SWL</span></a></p>

Alex KR1ST/PA1ST<p>Interesting. The time honored tradition of calling CQ or searching for a signal is now considered an insurmountable burden?</p><p><a href="https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/introducing-rtqm-qrzs-real-time-qso-manager.961101/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">forums.qrz.com/index.php?threa</span><span class="invisible">ds/introducing-rtqm-qrzs-real-time-qso-manager.961101/</span></a></p><p>"Rather than searching the bands endlessly for a weak signal..." Huh? Strong signals be damned?</p><p>I'm not sure what to think of it. I utilize similar tools on VHF+, but that's just because activity is so low on these bands that calling CQ outside of a contest is almost an exercise in futility.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.radio/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a></p>
