consumableJoy<p>I am not officially participating in Tour de Fleece this year - but I have so far successfully managed to spin at least 5 minutes each of the days of the tour so far ;) I’m using one of my supported spindles and spinning rolags from Hikari Handmade. <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/TourDeFleece" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TourDeFleece</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/tourdefleece2025" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>tourdefleece2025</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/HandSpinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HandSpinning</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/fiberArts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fiberArts</span></a></p>

Elizenery<p>Working on the last stretch of brioche ribbing on the very soft hand spun cardigan. Made a little swatch of fine Japanese bouclé yarn that I bought second hand a while back. And just finished plying some Gotland two ply yarn spun from flicked locks.<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WIPWednesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WIPWednesday</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HandSpinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HandSpinning</span></a></p>
Vereesh<p>My first time trying a gradient spin. With rolags. I'm sure I'm not the first one to try this with this fiber prep, but I never heard of it before. It's going to be a little tricky when I get to the shortest repeats. I've made a cheat sheet to help keep track of all 7 of these very similar shades. This is BFL with mulberry silk, dyed with kool-aid. <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/handspinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>handspinning</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/handmade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>handmade</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/handcraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>handcraft</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/wool" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>wool</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/fiberarts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fiberarts</span></a></p>

consumableJoy<p>My actual “learning to spin” journey - I was living in Japan and wanted to take a fiberarts class so I took “spin to weave” class even though I couldn’t understand much Japanese at that point. I already knew how to weave so at least that part was fine, and I learned to spin by just kind of watching and following along. I did successfully complete one full project then. In 2004. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://ohai.social/@bomkatt" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>bomkatt</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://sunny.garden/@emery" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>emery</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.art/@madgeface" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>madgeface</span></a></span> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/handspinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>handspinning</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/fiberarts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fiberarts</span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/weaving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weaving</span></a>… (1/2)</p>
consumableJoy<p>I got this beautiful blending board made with paduak wood as well as some tools to follow up on my class. I also picked up these locks of good, clean fiber because I particularly enjoyed processing the locks on the board (grey lower left in previous post). Elizenery<p>My incompatible fibers (Gotland and Clun Forest) yarn is ready for finishing. It was a playful experiment and I don't think its very usable yarn. But I had fun, learned a few things and got some new ideas. Also about 2/3 in to the second sleeve of the soft handspun cardigan. I'm much faster on small circulars than with magic loop. Happy with the new (second hand) shorty tips.<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WIPWednesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WIPWednesday</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HandSpinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HandSpinning</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a></p>

Betsy<p>It's been a while since I've done any solid lace (wordplay intended)! This is the first repeat of the edging for a stole. The stitch I've picked out for the body is much simpler.</p><p>Yarn is a handspun 17.5 micron merino, hand dyed not by me in a semisolid yellow. It didn't come out super consistent but I'm quite happy with the yarn and how it's knitting up anyway.</p><p>Book is The Lacy Knitting of Mary Schiffmann by Nancy Nehring</p><p><a href="https://cloudisland.nz/tags/knitting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>knitting</span></a> <a href="https://cloudisland.nz/tags/handspinning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>handspinning</span></a></p>
