Gunnarsson<p>All flavors of Linux makes the screen blink every second or so on this old Latitude 5480. I was going to try Chrome OS flex just to have some fun use for it, but of course that's also based on Linux ... Windows is fine, and even Haiku is fine, but in the latter I don't get trackpad or wifi support 🙁 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/dell" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dell</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>intel</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/intelgraphics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>intelgraphics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a></p>
@𝚆𝚘𝚛𝙼𝙿𝟹:~$: :t_blink:<p>This is definitely a pain point for consumers. I strategically avoided <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/NVIDIA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NVIDIA</span></a> when looking for my new laptop that is now running <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/LinuxMint" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxMint</span></a>. Why? Driver support is non-existent. The fact that Linus points out that they are the single biggest problem as it relates to hardware manufacturing is not only telling, but a warning to future <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> users. In other words, buy <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/AMD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AMD</span></a> or use <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/IntelGraphics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IntelGraphics</span></a>.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/@stux/112146164585687430" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">mstdn.social/@stux/11214616458</span><span class="invisible">5687430</span></a></p>
Dr. Moritz Lehmann<p>During the past months I've been searching for the dream job, and in the end it was the the dream job that found me: I got hired by <a href="https://mast.hpc.social/tags/Intel" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Intel</span></a>!
