David Ruffner<p>I finished Anne of Green Gables recently. I enjoyed it! I was reading other books at the same time, so it took me a while to finish it, but every time I listened to a chapter I liked it. It's funny and touching. I found that listening to a few of Anne's misadventures was a great way to wind down during anxious times. It was like spending time with a "kindred spirit" to borrow one of Anne's favorite phrases.</p><p><a href="https://raphus.social/tags/LibriVox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LibriVox</span></a><br><a href="https://raphus.social/tags/AnneOfGreenGables" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AnneOfGreenGables</span></a></p>

Rohit Farmer, Ph.D.<p>There is so much good available in the public domain. I just found LibriVox, a volunteer-run audiobook project for public domain books. David Ruffner<p>Now I am starting Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery on Librivox, <a href="https://librivox.org/anne-of-green-gables-by-lucy-maud-montgomery-3/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">librivox.org/anne-of-green-gab</span><span class="invisible">les-by-lucy-maud-montgomery-3/</span></a> I decided to read it because my younger sister was a big fan of it when we were growing up.</p><p>I'm a only few chapters in, but I am really enjoying it so far. The main character, Anne, is full of enthusiasm, wonder, and imagination and it is funny how the other more stiff characters try to make sense of her.</p><p><a href="https://raphus.social/tags/LibriVox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LibriVox</span></a><br><a href="https://raphus.social/tags/FreeCulture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FreeCulture</span></a><br><a href="https://raphus.social/tags/publicDomain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>publicDomain</span></a></p>
David Ruffner<p>I finished the book Heidi, via the Librivox audio book. It ended up being a little too moralistic for me. I hadn't picked up on it as a kid when my dad read it to me. So I ended up skipping a bunch of chapters when Heidi went to school. I preferred the parts where Heidi was up on the mountain and free to play and explore.<br><a href="https://raphus.social/tags/LibriVox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LibriVox</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://raphus.social/@davidruffner/113402321909300478" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">raphus.social/@davidruffner/11</span><span class="invisible">3402321909300478</span></a></p>

My dad read it to me and my siblings when I was a young, so I have good memories of it. It's fun to listen as a parent now. In one part, little Heidi takes off her outer layers so that she can run freely with the goats on the mountain. I can totally see my 3 year old doing that.</p><p>I'm grateful for this free resource.
