Lynx could thrive if released in Northumberland, research has found, and 72% of people in the region where they would roam support reintroducing the elusive cat. Lynx, one of two native cat species along with the wild cat, vanished from Britain about 800 years ago due to hunting and loss of their woodland habitat.

« Après avoir presque disparu de France du fait de la chasse et de la perte de son habitat, le chat #forestier recolonise ses anciens territoires. »

« Le chat forestier est reconnaissable à sa queue touffue, annelée et terminée par un manchon noir, à sa bande dorsale noire et à ses yeux verts. Avec le lynx boréal, ils sont des deux seuls félins #sauvages de France. »

"Lauren Harrison, a sheep farmer from Hadrian’s Wall, said: “I saw in Europe that it’s possible to live alongside lynx. The risks to livestock can be minimal and there are so many positives. Tourism is an obvious one, but I also think a more balanced ecosystem is beneficial to farmers"

Fingers crossed this goes ahead.

Bring back the #Lynx - crowdjustice.com/case/bring-ba "the Head of the Government’s Wildlife Regulator has said he remains enthusiastic about reintroducing lynx to Britain and would be “absolutely delighted” if it could be achieved during his two-year term. The time is right and we are now determined and ready to deliver this project."

CrowdJusticeBRING BACK THE LYNXWe are a organisation focused on bringing the lynx back to the UK where it rightfully belongs. We are extremely determined to deliver this project and won't give up until lynx roam our forests again.

I screened quite some photos because I didn't want to choose "Landscape" - But then I found this photo of the #Lynx that I took at the #wildparkpoing .

Some more #photos, also from the lynx can be found on the short Blog Post: franzgraf.de/blog/2025/a-day-a

Anyways - I'm glad I found it and I'm happy to share it with you.

One of the four lynx that were illegally released into the Cairngorms National Park, Scotland, in January and rescued by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. The three lynx that survived the ordeal have settled in to their new homes at the nearby Highland Wildlife Park, where this picture was taken. They have been named Caledonia, Cardrona and Bluebell.

"The fact that the UK is one of the only countries in the world without an apex predator should be a source of huge shame for the government. We are in a biodiversity crisis. It is time for the greenwashing and needless conversations to stop and for real actions to occur"
Paul O'Donoghue, Lynx UK Trust

We should go ahead. Hill farming is no longer viable & shouldn't be the driver of environmental decisions.
