Mrs Stonechat and a couple of flowers from today's walk
Pretty purple hibiscus bloom in one of my client's home garden. I'm tending to her pollinators garden this afternoon.

A handsome little #beetle shows up on our #mallow plants every year. Finally got round to looking at one properly. I think it is Podagrica fuscipes, which is not v. common in UK as a whole, but locally frequent along the N. Kent coast.
Apparently you can distinguish from slightly more common Podagrica fuscicornis by colour of legs (orange in fuscicornis, dark brown/black in fuscipes).
Dodgy phone photos down a microscope don't really do it justice: elytra are a lovely metallic blue-green.
Indulging in one of the ancient delicacies of my people.
Thinking about all the stuff we grow that we will be eating today:
#Mulberry (frozen)
#WhiteSage (salt and oil)
#BlackSage (salt & fresh leaves)
#Persimmon (fresh)
#Oranges (dried peels and maybe fresh)
#Tangelo (dried peel)
#Tomatoes (fresh)
#Lemon (fresh)
#Toyon (for the chickens)
#CaliforniaBuckwheat (for the chickens)
#Mallow (dried)
#Eggs (fresh)
#CaliforniaBayLaurel (oil)
and maybe more. It enhances the flavors & variety in our diet. #CaliforniaNativePlant #HomegrownFood
