The Migrant Genocide: Toward a Third World Analysis of European Class Struggle

Over 10,000 people died in transit to Spain in 2024 alone. On June 2022, the border fence of Melilla, one of two Spanish enclaves in Morocco, was witness to a massacre that killed or disappeared over a hundred African migrants. A recent BBC investigation revealed that Greek border guards systematically repeal immigrants already on Greek land, hurling them back into the sea.

Stunning: This morning's front pages of the British press display utterly contrasting framing: FT and Guardian use a photo framing Channel crossing migrants as desperate victims narrowly escaping horrific death, while The Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph use a photo portraying them as a massive orde of screaming savages beach-landing. This is consistant with years of depicting refugees and migrants as invaders by tabloids in the UK.

As Frances Ryan points out, our political class are shrugging their shoulders even as they collude with & encourage a Right narrative of dangerous asylum seekers.

If you want an example of how the so-called 'centre' (now really no such thing) is always more relaxed about the extremists on the Right, then their ambivalence about anti-migrant (anti-asylum-seeker) rhetoric would be a good place to start.

Ryan is rightly angry & so should we be!

The Guardian · As asylum seekers are engulfed by slurs and lies, our leaders shrug. Truly, this is shamefulBy Frances Ryan

Meanwhile here in #losangeles (and I wish this was #satire but we don't need that shit anymore):

#federal agents are showing up at elementary schools, and trying to talk to actual children to find #undocumented #migrants then lying to staff members who refused them access to the children. Saying things like their family gave them permission, and hiding identification when staff started taking notes.

Unmarked vehicles. No warrants.

Heroes of staff members though.

The gig economy's exploitation of migrants:

'The food delivery sector is no longer just a site of informal economic survival for precarious migrants. It has become a laboratory for a new mode of migration governance. In this hybrid regime, algorithmic control merges with immigration enforcement, producing a workforce that is as vulnerable as it is visible: highly surveilled and functionally expendable'!

The gig economy's callousness deepens!
