SteveLooking back (north) from the track near the bridge over Ogden Brook, a grassy track winds up a gentle slope into a wide moorland valley. The landscape is patterned with rolling green hills, patches of bracken, and heather-brown moor. A dry-stone wall snakes along the slope, leading towards a dark conifer plantation on the opposite hillside. The sky is dramatic, with heavy grey clouds broken by a vivid patch of blue.<br>

SteveBehind Hobson Moor Quarry can be seen a sweeping moorland landscape under a sky of billowing clouds and bright blue patches. The foreground is dominated by purple-flowering heather (Calluna vulgaris) spread across rolling hills, with clusters of green trees interspersed. Beyond the heather, a patchwork of green fields leads to a prominent hill topped with a communications mast. Electricity pylons cross the middle distance, and the far horizon fades into distant hills and valleys.<br>
