Mary-Frances O'Connor<p>Hello, new world! By way of <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/Introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Introduction</span></a> I am a <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/Neuroscientist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Neuroscientist</span></a> and <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/ClinicalPsychologist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClinicalPsychologist</span></a> studying <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/Grief" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Grief</span></a> at <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/UArizona" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>UArizona</span></a>. Perhaps the most important thing I've learned/written about is that <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/Bereavement" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bereavement</span></a> is a <a href="https://newsie.social/tags/HealthDisparity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HealthDisparity</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2022.850994/full" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">frontiersin.org/articles/10.33</span><span class="invisible">89/fpsyt.2022.850994/full</span></a></p>
Andrew Glennerster<p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>introduction</span></a> : I am a <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/neuroscientist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>neuroscientist</span></a> studying <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/3dvision" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dvision</span></a> in freely moving humans (lots of 3D researchers study static humans or freely moving rats). I am excited by the <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/cerebellum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cerebellum</span></a> (which is computionally huge but hard to study electrophysiologically), less so by the <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/hippocampus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>hippocampus</span></a> (which has been studied in immense detail but may, in the end, have a more minor computational role). I follow <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/NeuroAI" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NeuroAI</span></a> as <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/machinelearning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>machinelearning</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/reinforcementlearning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>reinforcementlearning</span></a> may solve the brain, en passant, before we do.</p>
Jasper Phelps<p>Hello world! <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>introduction</span></a> <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/twittermigration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>twittermigration</span></a></p><p>I am a <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/neuroscientist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>neuroscientist</span></a> interested in how signals flow through neural circuits to generate behavior. I study <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/motorcontrol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>motorcontrol</span></a> in adult <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/Drosophila" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Drosophila</span></a> where powerful tools are letting us move steadily toward a mechanistic understanding of <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/computation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>computation</span></a> in neural circuits.</p><p>I spent my PhD doing EM and X-ray <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/connectomics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>connectomics</span></a> (<a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/FANC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FANC</span></a>) and I'm now doing in vivo activity recordings for my <a href="https://drosophila.social/tags/postdoc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>postdoc</span></a>. After this, I hope to start my own lab.</p><p>And my Mastodon era begins!</p>
