It's time for a long-overdue service for my viola - I've only recently started playing properly again, after a 25-year hiatus. First stop: the bow people, to discover if the nice violin bow I summarily rejected aged 18 in favour of a 'proper' viola bow is actually a viola bow after all.

Musicians TodayDavid McMullin (@mcmullin@musicians.today)I’m at an interesting point in the composition of my choral/orchestral work in progress. The first major part (about 20 minutes) is composed, with choral and solo voice parts all done, and I’m working on the orchestration. The opening was fully orchestrated already two or three years ago, and the big climactic passage (about 16 minutes in) was done a year ago. A few months ago I worked out an earlier climactic passage and connected them. And the ending has been all set for a few weeks. 1/6

I need a new keyboard!

I moved and couldn't take my keyboard with me that I used to write music & practice every day. I need a new one at my new place, so from now until the end of August, my Bandcamp albums will be $2 as I try to cover some of the cost. Thank you!

The model I'm looking to get is basically the newer version of the one I have used for the past 12-ish years: a Yamaha YDP-145. They range €850-€1200 depending on the store & if it's on sale, so I'm hoping to get one on the lower end of that.

Other ways to help if buying music is not an option would be to share this thread or subscribe to my YouTube channel! I am getting close to monetization and I know it's not going to be a lot at first, but everything helps! Thanks so much!

For anyone who has played any kind of instrument: Have you ever had an instances in which you felt like an instrument just sang for you and was easy to play? Or, conversely, that just fought you on everything you tried, was painful to play, and just wouldn't behave?

How do you even determine such a thing? And what do you do when you have the latter, and the instrument just will not "harmonize" with you?
