Willard Goosey<p>Oh man ROTFL!</p><p>So, a while back I found an actual FOCAL program on the net and downloaded it, lunarlander.foc. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it here but I can't find my post.😞</p><p>Anyway it doesn't run in my version of the Conway/ Kida FOCAL interpreter and I just realized why.</p><p>Because this is ALL UPPERCASE source and this FOCAL only knows function names in lower case!</p><p>And I never noticed! </p><p>This FOCAL does accept uppercase keywords, but not functions.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Focal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Focal</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/RiscOS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RiscOS</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/OS9" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OS9</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Unix" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Unix</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/LunarLander" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LunarLander</span></a></p>

I guess it is missing some iMac-specific bits. Regardless, my burned 9.2.2 "universal" installer CD worked beautifully.<br>And of course, I had to install <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/SereneScreen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SereneScreen</span></a> <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/Marine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Marine</span></a> <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/Aquarium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Aquarium</span></a>.<br><a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/MARCHintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MARCHintosh</span></a> <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/Macintosh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Macintosh</span></a> <a href="https://bitbang.social/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a></p>

Santiago Lema :amiga:<p>This uncompressed screenshot at 1280x1024 in full color uses more memory than this app when running on Mac OS 9 (Classic). </p><p>ClarisWorks 5 was released at the end of 1997 and I think it has probably all I actually really use in a Word processor or Spreadsheet (not much but that’s the case for many people).</p><p>The minimum CPU to run this was apparently a 68030 at 25 MHz and 8 Mb of RAM. So yes it runs pretty fast on a PowerPC Mac. </p><p><a href="https://masto.lema.org/tags/RetroComputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RetroComputing</span></a> <a href="https://masto.lema.org/tags/OS9" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OS9</span></a> <a href="https://masto.lema.org/tags/Cube" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cube</span></a></p>
Santiago Lema :amiga:<p>OS 9 on the upgraded G4 Cube: Always in awe at how well this works using like 50 or 70 mb for the major apps of the time. Sure collaborative multitasking sucks but in a real usage situation it doesn’t affect much your workflow.</p><p>I am also surprised at how comfortable I am at using this 25+ years later. Well I did spend 4 years using Mac OS 7 &amp; 8 daily at work and slightly older versions of the apps.</p><p>I still have dual boot to OSX 10.5 but indeed a super fast <a href="https://masto.lema.org/tags/OS9" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OS9</span></a> is better<br><a href="https://masto.lema.org/tags/Retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Retrocomputing</span></a></p>
