Trump's lunch meeting with Pakistan's military chief prompted a private diplomatic protest from India in a warning to Washington about risks to their bilateral ties while New Delhi is recalibrating relations with China as a hedge, officials and analysts said.

The meeting and other tensions in the U.S.-India relationship, have cast a shadow in trade negotiations.

Quite intriguing thing I just discovered - there's a Pakistani broad-gauge railway line that reaches into Iran to terminate at a town called Zahedan.

I'm reading a history of India's railways and this line was a project of the Raj to enable British troops to be sent west in WWI to resist any Ottoman incursions. It wasn't finished until 1922, and didn't link up to Iran's railways until 2009! Obscure but interesting.
