I want NPR AND PBS to survive, especially in rural ‘Merica where I grew up. PBS for me as a child was a window into worlds foreign to me. Sesame Street, while targeted often at urban kids, showed me, a rural kid, what stoop life was; what a city transit train was. I had no idea. Trains carried grain and coal not people!

The rural stations that served me are really in danger. I donate to a smaller Kansas NPR station that I stream even though I live in KC metro.

Let's talk about public radio and public television.

With regard to NPR based on their own numbers from 2023, member stations typically received 1 to 6 percent of their funding from the Federal Government.

This kind of loss in revenue is certainly "fixable" and the fact the government now has to stay out of their day to day business operations and journalism is a positive thing.

PBS (TV) on the other hand is more concerning and I can't even speculate on how this will play out.
