Happy new #peer2peer dev-world!

Finally I got my #radicle seed node up and kicking. Updated with recent released radicle. Running the radicle-explorer.

Now I think about putting gitea to rest.
What do you think?

Of course this comes with some changes:

* Contributors will need to use radicle too when they want to PR something or open issues (git clone will work just fine). This probably/certainly raises some entry barrier.

* Easier administration for me since I don't need to tend the influx of bogus account creation requests some bot armies do on gitea. There is much less state (aka close to nothing) to backup.

* radicle is still young, there are a lot things missing. Esp the UX/discoverability could be better.

@radicle @obsidian @torproject

I've been on the lookout for a publishing pathway straight from my #Obsidian vault that is easy, resilient, and open-source.
Now the solution has presented itself:

Simply initialize a #Git repository in a directory of the vault, populate it with stuff to publish and commit.

Then initialize a #Radicle repository in the same directory and watch as your knowledge spreads across the decentralized internet.

You can always view the published repo using the radicle-explorer:

app.radicle.xyz/nodes/seed.rad

The neat by-product of this method using git is that it makes it stupid easy to collaborate on the knowledge base, fix typos, dead links, etc.
So fundamentally extensible by the public.

Radicle itself then enables this collaboration to be censorship resistant, especially when used with #Tor.

Some time ago, I had started working on a GitHub Action that would mirror my code from #GitHub -> #Radicle .

It couldn't work at the time, so all I got was a very stale PR ...

2+ years later, PR #22 has been resurrected and merged !

With it, any new contributions to github.com/gsaslis/greek-names will be automagically mirrored to the #peer2peer #radicle network! 🎉

Next up: convert this to a reusable #GitHub #Action, to make re-use easier and write some docs, of course! ;)

:BoostOK: How do you feel about the option to download source code archives and binary distributions of open source software over Bittorrent?

Because I had the idea to distribute my free and open source software over Bittorrent as an alternate way while also making them resilient.

The source code archives and binaries will have checksums and be GPG-signed for integrity and authenticity.

Just discovered that the #Beaker #Browser project has been archived. 😭 I seemed to have missed this in-between moving jobs. Is there a decent browser based peer-to-peer alternative anyone can point to? I especially loved the ability to self-publish via #markdown - quick + simple. Recommendations gratefully received! 😀
