August update:
I’d gotten waylaid a bit due to "life" (and had some initial challenges in testing federation…all good now from the looks of it), but at this point
I can safely say my #PieFed instance is very nearly ready to go public!
I'm convinced the public web forum of tomorrow is a #Threadiverse installation, and PieFed has risen to the top as the best project in this genre imo. Can't wait to go all-in on promoting it.
Sneak peak:
I’m doing a live thread on #Piefed about End of the World—an alien schlock-fest starring Christopher Lee.
Follow along to it here:
Congratulations to the #Piefed team for reaching a major milestone!
IT'S ALLLIIIVVEEE! #piefed
Noticed that #Piefed autolinks URLs without https and the linkification federates to Mastodon, are there other fediverse servers that do this? Seems like a huge quality of life improvement
@ivantodorov Give Piefed a try - it interoperates with Lemmy and Kbin/Mbin. The cool feature I like about Piefed is it will link messages in cross-posts so that even if you're in a small community, you'll get to see the bigger picture of what's being discussed. On lemmy you have to navigate to the crossposted links to see other comments, which if you don't, can make your experience feel walled-off.
#Piefed has microblogging on the 2025 roadmap.
If they implemented the “move activity” would you migrate?
@paige not quite sure why but for some reason replies aren’t showing up like it did on this https://piefed.ca/post/41164
Maybe it’s something #piefed does by not #Lemmy? Maybe moderation? maybe I have to keep the [at] in the body of the text reply?
PieFed continues to gain integrations with Lemmy apps. Blorp (love the name) is the most recent addition, initially in the web app with a TestFlight to come.
Every single #Fediverse server of all types should do this. Every one. “PieFed now includes a simple plugin engine so third parties can extend PieFed functionality without adding their code to the main #PieFed project.” https://piefed.social/post/1031211 cc: @piefed_meta
Added a basic plugin system
Opção de ferramenta de fórum federada, alternativa ao Lemmy desenvolvida em Python com Flask.
I have now found 1070 verified accounts from media organizations in the #Fediverse, but only on #Mastodon, #Flipboard, #Threads, #Bluesky, #Ghost and #Peertube.
Just one is on #Sharkey ( @heiseBotti) and none on #Pixelfed, #Lemmy, #Piefed, #Misskey & Co. Are there really none there, or did I miss some?
We have opened up PieFed.World for registrations.
Please see the announcement post if you are curious to what PieFed is: https://piefed.world/post/237378
Idea 7: technology. I really appreciate #PieFed’s deliberate choice to pick a tech stack and coding style that is low barrier to entry. Perhaps something “boring but stable” like Python or Node.js is the way to encourage contribution. For sure this needs to be web first, with the ability to build native apps if people feel inclined. The web is the only open platform that remains, and using modern #PWA features like ability to add web sites to the home screen and support push notifications are now supported on practically all platforms.
