Guy<p>The 'hoiho' (yellow-eyed penguin) is one of the world's rarest penguins. It's an iconic penguin in Aotearoa/New Zealand. And it's in severe danger. Department of Conservation (DOC) data showed the northern population had collapsed by 80 percent since 2008, with some colonies already becoming functionally extinct.</p><p>Conservation groups are calling on the government to put an emergency fishing ban in place. The government would be informed by a "scientific multi-threat risk assessment". OK. But the government awarded the tender for the assessment in September 2022 already with diddly squat action. Getzler Lab at KenyonCollege<p>might have to become a merit badge counselor so I can do this for my kid's troop. apparently, not a lot of scouts do this one. flame tests and nylon are options for completion. duncan<p>Re. Scout Movement. I've found almost nothing on fediverse about the world wide scouts youth movement. Maybe the first fix for that is agreeing on a hashtag. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/scouts" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scouts</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/scouting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>scouting</span></a> seem to have a lot of sports recruiting posts. I don't think we should use a version of "boy scouts" since it's just inaccurate. Our common organisation is World Organization of the Scout Movement who use the abbreviation <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WOSM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WOSM</span></a> so maybe <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WOSMScout" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WOSMScout</span></a> or something?
