Hello fediverse,
Any experts here for the #oberheim #matrix1000 ?
I recently got a matrix 1000 but it does not make any (sensible) sounds. Some low humming, clicking perhaps.
-I did a reset (Enter on Startup)
but no change.
-I tried a calibration but "ext Funct" - "7" does not work. Nothing happens when pushing 7.
-Battery has still 3V, so seems ok
-FW is 1.11
I noticed a short cable on the mainboard that links two chips. What does that mean?
Boosts and help appreciated 🙏🎹

Johannes Schmoelling is the G.O.A.T. 🙌

As far as I’m concerned, when it comes to retro #synthesizer music, he can do no wrong. He had a massive influence on Tangerine Dream when he joined the band in 1980, and even though he left after 1985, some of the greatest-ever #ElectronicMusic was produced during his tenure.

Thus I am beyond thrilled that Schmoelling has created a brand-new YouTube channel featuring interviews and concert performances!

www.yarred.comJohannes Schmoelling (of Tangerine Dream)'s New YouTube Channel | YarredYarred combines next-gen groove production with classic keyboard playing on analog and digital synthesizers.

I’m launching a brand-new weekly live event that blends everything I do as a musician, composer, and producer:

🎶 Modular Mondays: Worlds in Sound.

youtu.be/5yF_fn0i7qo

📆 Every Monday at 8 PM CET — on my YouTube channel.

Each week, I’ll create music for an imaginary video game, using a visual prompt, narrative idea, or cue. The entire soundtrack will be built live using modular synthesizers — software, hardware, or both. The only core principles are: improvisation and sonic storytelling.

🌀 We’ll explore modular synthesis together
🎚️ Test out software & hardware modules
🧠 Dive into my creative process as a composer
✨ Blend ambient, electronica, techno, cinematic, acid, post-rock, breakbeat, and more

The music we record will evolve into a digital album, available on Bandcamp and as exclusive content for my Patreon, including loops, stems, and samples.

🎮 Indie game devs: you’re welcome to use the tracks in your projects — get in touch!

Whether you’re a synth nerd, game composer, ambient music fan, or just want to unwind and get inspired, I have a seat for you on the spaceship to join me on this journey.

I'll go synth-shopping in a few weeks and hopefully have the opportunity to test some stuff. Looking for recommendations what to look at.

Please boost and comment!

On my list so far:
- ASM Hydrasynth
- Behringer PRO-800
- Modal Cobalt8X
- Behringer UB-Xa
- UDO Audio Super 6

Any other recommendations (up to, say 2500€)?

I need aftertouch, and at least 49 keys (or an expander without keys), but prefer 61. I'm not interested in monophonic or modular systems, or stuff that mostly makes atonal noises and screeches or bleeps; otherwise I'm totally agnostic about tone generation (subtractive, FM, waveshaping, tonewheel, whatever ...)

On the last weekend @flpvsk invited me for a #workshop in #berlin. One of the things that would not have happened without the #fediverse. <3
Thanks & a big shout out to #flpsk to make it happen! Such a pleasant atmosphere and participants.
If you're in the north of Neukölln/Weichselstraße and are interested in electronic, homemade music, FX and guitars you should not miss to drop by his little store and workshop and have a chat with Andrey.

@mralex Sorry I know I've filled your buffer a bunch already but I also wanted to thank you for turning me on to the "VCVRAID" keyword.

That's one heck of a delightful rabbit hole to fall down if you enjoy #synthesizer and specifically #vcvrack stuff!

So as any of you who follow know I've been on a #synthesizer kick lately, and in particular listening to some Wendy Carlos.

I just got a CD of her album "By Request".

And I'm really enjoying it! It's super interesting to note how ... festive? Merry even? Her synth music is. Such a striking contrast from the grumbly growly squeal-y synth music we get more often than not nowadays.

Definitely recommended if you're in the mood for something a little different!
