Osma Suominen<p>Some may wonder why <a href="https://sigmoid.social/tags/K%C3%A4%C3%A4rij%C3%A4" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Käärijä</span></a>, the Finnish contestant at <a href="https://sigmoid.social/tags/Eurovision" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Eurovision</span></a> <a href="https://sigmoid.social/tags/ESC2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ESC2023</span></a>, has lots of wooden pallets in his show. This is a joke understood only by Finnish-speakers! In Finnish, a European standard pallet is called "eurolava", and "lava" can mean many things all related to flat surfaces - it can also mean a stage. So "eurolava" can also mean "euro stage". The Finnish representative was chosen at <a href="https://sigmoid.social/tags/umk2023" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>umk2023</span></a> and everyone understood from the pallets that Käärijä is aiming for the European stage.</p>
