mborus<p>Today I did my first <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Windows11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Windows11</span></a> install of Python3.13 on a machine that did not have <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Python" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Python</span></a> before.</p><p>I selected to also install the experimental free-threading build and was a bit surprised when the py launcher chose this build as the new default for the "py" and "py -3" commands.</p><p>The launcher probably thinks that "3.13t" is newer than "3.13". </p><p>Setting the user environment variable <br>PY_PYTHON=3.13 fixed that behaviour for me.</p>
