The mayor of Japanese city Nagasaki excluded Israel from the annual peace memorial ceremony.
Israel, who is committing genocide and whose minister Amichai Elijahu demanded in November 2023 to drop an atomic bomb over Gaza.
Because of this exclusion, the USA, the UK, Germany, and other US allies boycotted the ceremony.
The USA who dropped the atomic bomb over Nagasaki boycotted the peace memorial ceremony. Because their friend Israel wasn’t invited. After wanting to use a nuclear bomb in Gaza.
@davidculley “The good guys.”
@aral I can’t believe that virtually the entire West gives Israel a pass on their genocide.
@davidculley Yeah, I have no words. No Western country has a moral leg to stand on at this point. Genocide, clearly, isn’t that big a deal. I wonder how they’ll like the polio when it arrives at their shores.
@davidculley @aral
Big "racist grandma" vibes. "Oh, Israel... They're from a different time..."
@davidculley here in France, some politician said that they regretted that Nagasaki's mayor "politicized the event"...
Speechless...
@vincib @davidculley imagine thinking you can have conversations about "peace"without being political LMAOOO
Don't forget that Israel most likely has actual, undeclared, i.e. illegal, nuclear weapons.
@davidculley If anyone needs an article, here it is:

@davidculley Israel != one stupid minister of current government of Israel, and this was his opinion. And yeah, US used nuclear bombs, Japan was performing genocide with even bigger enthusiasm than Nazi Germany and till today have places where people responsible for this are celebrated, so...
@przemelek Nobody needs to suffer your whataboutism.
And nobody but the people of Nagasaki has the right to decide how the people of Nagasaki should commemorate the tragedy that befell them. Either accept that or get blocked.
@davidculley is isn't whataboutism.
Mayor of Nagasaki doesn't invite Israel because one of Israel's minister said that nuking Gaza i "one of the possibilities".
He was suspended, and Netanyahu said "Eliyahu’s statements are not based in reality".
Mayor of Nagasaki explains that decision based on similar cases for Russia and Belarus where in case of Russia Putin himself was threating using nukes.
US said something like "OK, case of Israel here is different than Russia, Russia President says it, here one of ministers said it and his statement was criticized by PM, so in case of Russia this is country posture, in case of Israel it isn't so those cases should not be treated in the same way". Because of this that mayor of Nagasaki stays in position US and other countries said "Sorry, in such case we cannot participate", and you wrote "The USA who dropped the atomic bomb over Nagasaki boycotted the peace memorial ceremony. Because their friend Israel wasn’t invited. After wanting to use a nuclear bomb in Gaza.", you wrote also that this guy demanded dropping bomb on Gaza, when he said that this is an option (and was after that suspended).
So if somebody is doing whataboutism it is you "what about US who dropped bomb", you also passed false information that this guy demanded dropping nuke.
Realisty is:
* far right parties in Israel are happy to kill civilians in Gaza,
* Hamas is happy to have killed civilians in Gaza,
* Netanyahu wants war because thanks to this he is still PM,
* Netanyahu and far right parties took whole Israel hostage,
* Hamas leaders are happy when war continues because it means more money and fighters for the cause,
* Hamas leaders took Gaza hostage
@przemelek @davidculley It's not only that minister that supports mass civilian causalities in Gaza; it's Ben Gvir, it's Smotrich, it's practically everyone but Netanjahu and Gallant. As for the former, who knows what of his words are his actual opinions, Ben Gvir's, or whatever he needs to say to manipulate people (he's the Ashkenazi leader of the Mizrahi party that has done practically nothing against ada-based economic inequalities and discrimination after being in government for 40 years after all).
As an Israeli, the current government of Israel is illegitimate, and Japan is correct to consider it so. A government that manipulates its own population, that only cares about power and its own slice of the population's cake, that intentionally causes mass deaths and leaves tyrannical and fully, unarguably genocidal regimes in power for its own profit, is not legitimate, and should not participate in such an event.
@davidculley sounds kinda crazy when you put it that way
@davidculley wow I've been remarking on how america expects japan to just get over the mass murder of civilains in 2 seperate bombings but to this day cannot get over 9/11 but this is well beyond what i expected them to do so openly
@davidculley @Migueldeicaza I’m ashamed with our government for again following behind the USA who take everything and give us nothing. ‘Special relationship’ my arsehole
