Yesterday was the day I finally did my first #UltraMarathon
The run itself was just as much fun as the truly magnificent landscape around Moab, #Utah. At over 7 hours, I was slower than I had hoped, but I was able to enjoy the landscape to the fullest. If someone had told me 5ys ago, when I started #running, that I would be running an ultra #marathon at the age of 52, I wouldn't have believed it. Definitely a good feeling

@riaschissl @running Cheeeeers! Well done!
@sebastianhahn thx!! It was hard work but worth every minute of it!
@riaschissl @running Nicely done. An ultra is an ultra, nevermind the time it took to complete.
@riaschissl @running congratulations!
7 hours is a good time, especially for your first one.
@riaschissl @running congratulations that is a fantastic accomplishment.
@riaschissl
Congratulations !
@riaschissl @running many many congratulations!
@stefanonegri thx Stefano!
@riaschissl @running Well done, you hero! I can't imagine going beyond the 26.2
(I just got round a marathon today and I am not saying I'll never run an ultra, but the chances of never are very very high!)
@tinebeest thx! Congrats on your marathon then, too! If I have learned one thing from running, then it's never say never!
What drives me in the end is pure fun. As long as I enjoy it, I'm tempted to at least try. No interest in any (personal) records, just that wonderful feeling when your feet are hitting the trail step by step :D
@riaschissl That's the spirit!!
And I never say never, because everytime I have said never (incl. I'll never go to the US, I'll never spin dog hair into yarn etc) I've ended up doing it 'nevertheless'
@tinebeest @riaschissl @running One day many years ago my friend picked me up for a 10K training run. “In August we will run 60K on the old railway ...” he said. “Never, you are out of your skull.” I said. Come August, after 55K we knew we were starting a tradition. We did it 9 consecutive years, every August. You will run an ultra!
@Hovedorganet @riaschissl @running Hahaha, thanks for the encouragement!!
@riaschissl @running Congratulations! The running bug is a strange one, isn’t it?
@WTL thx!!
Yes, this infection is really very strange! And I hope that it won't go away any time soon... and of course, that my body won't disagree and refuses to cooperate
