Hello, this is my #Introduction
I am a self-taught #programmer now looking to dive in to #learning some #ai computer stuff.
My background is in urban planning. I have degrees in history and urban planning and worked as an urban planner for years before transitioning to programming. I have been working as a programmer for a few years mostly in backend web development, geospatial, and data engineering.
I will post here about my failures and successes trying to learn this new field for your entertainment. Beep boop.
Here's what I'm doing first:
- Kahn Academy Math: I have been brushing up on my math / learning it for the first time (Remember, I have a history degree not anything to do with math/science/engineering). I have been working through the calc, linear algebra, and stats courses
- Andrew Ng's Machine Learning Course: I have been watching the videos and working through the programming exercises for Andrew Ng's Machine Learning Course on Coursera
My plan for what to do next is:
- Take another course more related to python ML tools (pyTorch)?
- Enter some Kaggle competitions to write some actual real code.
- Other ideas:
- try to read the landmark papers?
- read some textbooks (e.g. Deep Learning Goodfellow/Bengio/Courville)?
